Vikramaditya Kulkarni dominates Motilalji Firodiya Rating Open 2024 with a perfect 9/9

IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni scored a perfect 9/9 to win Motilalji Firodiya Rating Open 2024. He finished a full point ahead of the field. 12-year-old Prathamesh Sherla scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. Atharv Soni, Harsh Ghadge and Yash Kapadi scored 7.5/9 each. They secured third to fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300006. The top three prizes were ₹51000 + trophy, ₹31000 and ₹21000 each. The five-day rating tournament was organized by Ahmednagar District Chess Circle at Badi Sajan Mangal Karaylaya in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra from 3rd to 7th May 2024. Top seed decimates the field

The top seed of the tournament, IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni won eight games in-a-row and had a full point lead going into the final round. Prajwal Avhad and Prathamesh Sherla were trailing at 7/8 each. Vikramaditya defeated Prajwal to become a clear champion with a 100% score. Prathamesh won against Shlok Sharnarthi to finish second 8/9. Atharv Soni scored a full point over Veer Kunjan Shah to finish third 7.5/9.

A total of 349 players including an IM took part from all over the country in this five-day nine round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Ahmednagar District Chess Circle at Badi Sajan Mangal Karaylaya in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra from 3rd to 7th May 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
