Anish Gandhi decimates Khasdar Chashak Rapid Rating Open 2025

Anish Gandhi scored an unbeaten 10/11 to win Khasdar Chashak Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. Seven players - Aditya Savalkar, IM Sameer Kathmale, IM Rahul Sangma, Shriraj Bhosale, Rushikesh Kabnurakar, FM Chinmay Kulkarni and Apurv Shekhar Deshmukh scored 9/11 each. They secured second to eighth place respectively The total prize fund was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹20000, ₹10000 and ₹7000 along with a trophy each. The two-day eleven round Rapid rating tournament was organized by Progressive Chess Association, Sangli at 7 Avenue Family Mart in Sangli, Maharashtra on 18th and 19th April 2025. CM Anish Gandhi was the sole leader 9.5/10, heading into the final round. Aditya Savalkar was the only player trailing by a half point at 9/10. IM Sameer Kathmale was at 8.5/10. Anish drew with Sameer to become a clear champion, Sameer finished third. Aditya lost to IM Rahul Sangma, still the former managed to secure second place.

A total of 290 players including two IMs took part from various parts of India and one from Ireland. The two-day eleven round Rapid rating tournament was organized by Progressive Chess Association, Sangli at 7 Avenue Family Mart in Sangli, Maharashtra on 18th and 19th April 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
