Nihaan Pohane clear first at Late Ramesh Vinayakrao Kotwal Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2025

Top seed, Nihaan Pohane scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Late Ramesh Vinayakrao Kotwal Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Sabir Adnan scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. Shubham Basone scored 7.5/9 to finish third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹50000. The top three prizes were ₹21000, ₹11000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each respectively. The two-day nine-round Swiss League Rapid Rating Open tournament  was organized by Gondia District Chess Association  at Vinayakrao Kotwal Memorial Hall, Bhavbhuti Ranga Mandir in Gondia, Maharashtra on 12th and 13th July 2025. No tie-breaks needed for top three

The top seed of the tournament, Nihaan Pohane was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Three players - Vishwaditya Awasthi, Omkar Kadav and Sabir Adnan were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Nihaan defeated Omkar to become a clear champion. Sabir won against Vishwaditya to finish second. Yugant Ramteke lost to Sbhubham Basone who claimed third place.

A total of 176 players took part from various states across the country. The two-day nine-round Swiss League Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Gondia District Chess Association at Vinayakrao Kotwal Memorial Hall, Bhavbhuti Ranga Mandir in Gondia, Maharashtra on 12th and 13th July 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment from move no.1.
