Priyanshu Patil wins Late Ramesh Vinayakrao Kotwal Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2023

Priyanshu Patil and Anshul Nanwani scored 8/9 each at Late Ramesh Vinayakrao Kotwal Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2023. Priyanshu won the tournament on tie-breaks. Anshul was adjudged second. The champion suffered his sole loss against the eventual second runner-up, Indrajeet Mahindrakar. The top seed of the event, Indrajeet edged past Nihaan Pohane to finish third with a 7.5/9 score. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹50000. The top three prizes were ₹21000, ₹11000 and ₹5000 each respectively. This is Priyanshu's first rating tournament triumph of his career. Priyanshu's first-ever rating tournament triumph

Indrajeet Mahindrakar had a sole lead 7.5/8 heading into the final round. Anshul Nanwani and Priyanshu Patil were in pursuit at 7/8 each. Anshul defeated Indrajeet and Vikrant Chole lost to Priyanshu. Thus, Priyanshu became champion according to tie-breaks, Anshul second and Indrajeet third.

A total of 135 players took part from various states across the country in this two-day nine-round Swiss League Rapid Rating Open tournament. The event was organized by Gondia District Chess Association at Bhavbhuti Rang Mandir in Gondia, Maharashtra on 8th and 9th July 2023. The time control of the event was 20 minutes + 10 seconds increment from move no.1.
