Vedant Panesar wins 1st Aquinas International School Rapid Rating Open 2025

FM Vedant Panesar and Atharva Madkar scored a 8/9 each at 1st Aquinas International School Rapid Rating Open 2025. Vedant won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Atharva was placed second. Vedant also remained undefeated. Six players scored 7.5/9 each. Out of them, FM Suyog Wagh was placed third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹251000. The top three prizes were ₹21000, ₹15000 and ₹12000 each respectively. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Universal Chess Foundation and Ashtavinayak Group at Aquinas International School in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 16th February 2025. This is Vedant's second rating tournament triumph of the year. Vedant's second victory of the year

Five players - FM Vedant Panesar, FM Suyog Wagh, Jeet Shah, Pushkar Dere and Atharva Madkar were in the lead 7/8 each. Vedant defeated Arnav Mahesh Koli to become the champion. Pushkar lost to Atharva and the latter secured second place. Jeet drew with Suyog and Suyog finished third.

FM Vedant Panesar scored an unbeaten 8/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 12.2 Elo rating points

A total of 322 players including an IM took part from various places all over the country and one from France. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Universal Chess Foundation and Ashtavinayak Group at Aquinas International School in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 16th February 2025. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment from move no.1.
