Jaiveer Mahendru clinches 360 One Mumbai Junior U-13 Rating 2022

Jaiveer Mahendru scored 8/9 and remained undefeated to win 360 One Mumbai Junior U-13 Rating Tournament 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Paras Dilip Bhoir, Sneha Halder and Siddhanth Poonja scored 7.5/9. They were placed second to fourth according to the tie-breaks. Jaiveer drew with Paras in the final round as it was enough for him to become a clear champion. The six-day nine-round rating tournament was organized by Indian Chess School at World Trade Center in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Total prize fund of the tournament was ₹250000. Jaiveer's first Rating tournament triumph

13-year-old Jaiveer Mahendru won his first Rating tournament on 31st December 2022. This was his final attempt at this event as he crossed the age group from the beginning of the new year. The teenager from the Mumbai made the most out of his opportunity and won the tournament convincingly. The reigning National Under-13 Girls champion, Sneha Halder and Sannidhi Ramakrishna Bhat are the only two girls to make a top ten finish. They scored 7.5/9 and 7/9 to secure third and sixth place respectively.

Jaiveer Mahendru scored an unnbeaten 8/9 and increased his Elo rating by 47.6 points

Position after 39...b5

Jaiveer Mahendru's (1653) well coordinated pieces, combined with the extra pawn induced a mistake by Shlok Sharnarthi (1557), 39...b5. White correctllly found 40.c5 and soon gained an exchange. He went on to win the game comfortably and gain sole lead 6/6.

A total of 188 players took part from various states across the country and a player from Kenya and USA each. The six-day nine-round Swiss league Rating tournament was organized by Indian Chess School at World Trade Center in Mumbai, Maharashtra from 26th to 31st December 2022. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
