Avirat Chauhan wins 1st Uin Sports Rating Open 2024

9-year-old Avirat Chauhan and Shriraj Bhosale scored 7.5/9 each at 1st Uin Sports Rating Open 2024. The former National Under-8 Open champion, remained undefeated and won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Shriraj secured second place. Six players scored 7/9 each. Out of them, Sourabh Mhamane was adjudged third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹601000. The top three prizes were ₹71000, ₹50000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. The six-day nine-round tournament was organized by Uinsports India Pvt. Ltd. at MIT Academy of Engineering in Pune, Maharashtra from 30th July to 4th August 2024. This was Avirat's first tournament triumph of the year.

IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni was the sole leader 7/8 going into the final round. Five players - Andalamala Hemal Varshan, Sourabh Mhamane, Avirat Chauhan, Shriraj Bhosale and Anushka Bapu Kutwal were trailing by a half point at 6.5/8 each. Shriraj defeated Vikramaditya to finish second. Avirat scored a win over Anushka to become champion. Sourabh drew with Andalamala to finish third.

Avirat Chauhan scored an unbeaten 7.5/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 66.4 Elo rating points

A total of 165 players including an IM took part from various states across India, one from Kenya and the USA each in this six-day nine-round Swiss League Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Uinsports India Pvt. Ltd. at MIT Academy of Engineering in Pune, Maharashtra from 30th July to 4th August 2024. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
