Laxman R R wins DKCA All India Rapid Rating Open 2022

GM Laxman R R who is known as the 'Speed King' of India for having the habit of winning plenty of tournaments all over the country, mainly in the faster formats. He won his first Rating tournament of the year, overall his third triumph of 2022. Four players - GM Laxman, IM Nitin S, IM Ratnakaran K and IM Himal Gusain scored 8.0/9 each. Laxman won the event due to better tie-break score. The remaining three were placed second to fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. Except Nitin, the remaining three remained undefeated. Laxman wins his third event of the year

GM Laxman R R had won 2nd Skillcraft Rapid and Blitz Open in March this year. However, they were both non-rating chess tournaments. His first Rating tournament triumph is this one at Mangalore, Karnataka. 11-year-old Arushi Severin Helen D Silva is the youngest finisher among top 20. She scored 7.0/9 and her only loss was against the eventual champion, Laxman.

A total of 308 players including 2 GMs and 5 IMs took part in this two-day Rapid Rating tournament. The event was organized by Dakshina Kannada Chess Association at Town Hall, Mangalore, Karnataka on 14th and 15th May 2022. The time control of the tournament was 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
