Balkishan wins SIMSRH 1st Rapid Rating Open with a perfect score

Balkishan A scored 7/7 to win SIMSRH 1st Rapid Rating Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. Sudarshan Bhat made an unbeaten 6.5/7 to finish second. The top seed of the tournament, IM D V Prasad scored 6/7 and edged past eight more players to finish third on tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹15000, ₹10000 and ₹7500 along with a trophy each. A total of 250 players took part from various part of the country. Balkishan's sole Rapid Rating triumph of 2022

Karnataka's Balkishan A had won two Rapid Open tournaments earlier in April and June. Both were one-day tournaments where he remained undefeated and became a clear champion. His third triumph of the year occurred on 3rd December when he won the SIMSRH 1st Rapid Rating Open with a 100% score 7/7.

A total of 250 players including an IM took part from all over India. The one-day seven-round Swiss league Rapid Rating tournament was organized by New Tumkur Chess Association and MM Chess Development Trust at Shridevi College of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital, Tumkur, Karnataka on 3rd December 2022. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment from move no.1.
