Harikrishnan dominates First Move Rapid Rating Open 2024

Top seed IM Harikrishnan A Ra scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win First Move Rapid Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Arpith S Bijoy, IM Hari Madhavan N B, Vinayak Kulkarni and Chinmay Kowshik scored 8/9 each. They were placed second, third and fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. The top three remained undefeated. The total cash prize fund was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹25000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each. The two-day rapid rating open was organized by First Move Chess Academy at Kautilya Vidyalaya Group of Institutions in Mysore, Karnataka on 26th and 27th October 2024. Harikrishnan wins Blitz Open

IM Harikrishnan A Ra scorched the field by winning eight consecutive games. IM Hari Madhavan N B and Arpith S Bijoy were trailing him by a half point 7.5/8, going into the final round. Harikrishnan drew with Arpith to become the champion. IM Sharan Rao drew with Hari Madhavan. Hari Madhavan finished third. In the Blitz Open, IM Harikrishnan A Ra, FM Apoorv Kamble and IM Muthaiah Al scored 8/9 each. Harikrishnan won that tournament, Apoorv and Muthaiah finished at second and third place respectively.

A total of 380 players including six IMs and a WIM took part from various parts of the country in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by First Move Chess Academy at Kautilya Group of Institutions in Mysore, Karnataka on 26th and 27th October 2024. The time control of the event was 20 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
