Balkishan A wins First Move Rating Open 2025
Balkishan A, Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan and IM Md. Imran scored 8/9 each at First Move Rating Open 2025. Balkishan won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Dinesh and Imran were placed second and third respectively. Only Balkishan remained undefeated among them. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500001. The top three prizes were ₹60001, ₹35000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by First Move Chess Academy at BSS Vidyodaya in Mysuru, Karnataka from 20th to 24th September 2025. Balkishan A was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the last round. Five players - Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan, Jagajit Sinha, Prashanth J Naik, Dhanush Ram M and IM Md. Imran were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Prashanth drew with Balkishan and the latter became champion. Dhanush and Jagajit lost to Dinesh and Imran, they finished second and third respectively.
Organiser of tournament was Bharath M - Founder, First Move Chess Academy. Esteemed dignitaries from LIC Mysuru division and V Sheshamurthy - Chief Superintendent Mysore were present.
First Move Team members Vijetha C K, Arun D, Darshan VPS, Ravikiran DJ, Thanay, Gagana coordinated the tournament well.

A total of 315 players including an IM took part from all over the country, also one from Canada and USA each. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by First Move Chess Academy at BSS Vidyodaya in Mysuru, Karnataka from 20th to 24th September 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
