14-year-old Charith Bhat clear champion at 10th ICA Below 1800 Rating Open 2024

112th seeded Charith Bhat scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 10th ICA Below 1800 Rating Tournament 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Seven players scored 7.5/9 each. Among them Yogesh Selvam and Shanmukha Pulli secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹999000. The top three prizes were ₹74999 + trophy, ₹65000 and ₹55000 each respectively. The three-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Innovators Chess Academy at Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education in Bengaluru, Karnataka from 12th to 14th April 2024. 112th seeded teenager wins his first rating tournament

Five players - Satyam Prakash, Charith Bhat, Yogesh Selvam, Pranav A J and Aaditya Ranjan Sahu were the leaders 7/8 heading into the final round. Charith defeated the top seed - Satyam, Pranav drew with Yogesh and Srinivasa Rao G V drew against Aaditya. Charith became a clear champion, Yogesh second and Shanmukha third.

A fractured arm did not stop Aneesh Adiga from playing well. He scored 7/9 to finish 12th

Thanks to FI NA Sushrutha Reddy, for sharing photos. This is the third consecutive rating tournament organized by Innovators Chess Academy. It started with Rapid Rating on 6th April then Classical Open from 7th to 11th and the last event was this one Below 1800 Rating tournament from 12th to 14th. Sushrutha had to go to Hua Hin, Thailand to play at 21st BCC Open 2024. However, he made sure his team is ready and completed the tournament successfully.

A total of 372 players took part from various states all over the country and also from England, Germany and USA in this three-day nine round Below 1800 Rating tournament. It was organized by Innovators Chess Academy at Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education in Bengaluru, Karnataka from 12th to 14th April 2024. The time control of the event was 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
