Kaustuv Kundu dominates 6th Bangalore Rating Open 2024

Top seed IM Kaustuv Kundu scored an unbeaten 9/10 to win 6th Bangalore Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. IM Nitin S and Lokesh N scored 8.5/10 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹1000000. The top three prizes were ₹100000 + trophy, ₹75000 and ₹65000 each respectively. The five-day ten round Rating Open tournament was organized by Innovators Chess Academy at Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education in Bengaluru, Karnataka from 7th to 11th April 2024. Kaustuv wins this event for the second time since 2022

Top seed of the tournament - IM Kaustuv Kundu was the sole leader 8.5/9 heading into the final round. IM Nitin S was the sole player trailing him by a half point at 8/9. Kaustuv drew with GM Saptarshi RoyChowdhury and FM Joydeep Dutta drew against Nitin. Thus, Kaustuv became a clear champion, Nitin second. Lokesh N defeated Sharsha Backer to finish third.

7-year-old Divith Reddy Adulla scored an impressive 7/10

Seven-year-old Divith Reddy Adulla (1608) scored an impressive 7/10, suffered only two losses and gained 94.4 Elo rating points. The Telangana State Under-7 and Under-9 Boys 2023 champion is definitely a talent to watch out for.

A total of 377 players including a GM and 4 IMs, took part from various states all over the country, one from Kenya and the USA each in this five-day ten round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Innovators Chess Academy at Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education in Bengaluru, Karnataka from 7th to 11th April 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
