Dinesh Rajan M wins 2nd Nanban CEG Rapid Rating Open 2023

Seven players scored 8/9 each at 2nd Nanban CEG Rapid Rating Open 2023. They are - Dinesh Rajan M, GM Vishnu Prasanna V, GM Deepan Chakkravarthy, IM Harshavardhan G B, Arpith S Bijoy, IM Ratnakaran K and FM Prasannaa S. Dinesh won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, the remaining six were placed second to seventh respectively. Dinesh, Vishnu, Arpith and Prasannaa remained undefeated among them. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each respectively. This is Dinesh's fourth overall, second rating tournament triumph of 2023. His first rating tournament victory of the year was at 29th Abu Dhabi Chess Festival 2023 Below 2000 Rating tournament. Top seven score 8/9

Dinesh Rajan M, Arpith S Bijoy and FM Prasannaa S were the three leaders 7.5/8 heading into the final round. Prasannaa drew against Arpith and Dinesh shared the point with IM FT Harikrishnan A Ra. GM Vishnu Prasanna and GM Deepan Chakkravarthy defeated Srihari L and IM P Saravana Krishnan. Dinesh became champion, Vishnu second and Deepan third. 14-year-old Arpith became the youngest among top ten finisher. He was placed fifth and he also remained undefeated.

The Guindy Times team with India's 66th GM Akash G

A total of 570 players including 3 GMs and 8 IMs took part from various places all over the country and one from Australia in this one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Castle Red at College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 15th October 2023. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
