David Gochelashvili wins 24th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit 2024, Kunal M second

IM David Gochelashvili and FM Kunal M scored 7/9 each at 24th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024. David won the tournament as he defeated Kunal in the second round. GM Manik Mikulas (SVK) scored sole 5.5/9 to secure third place. Kunal scored his final IM-norm. He just needs to fulfill the rating requirement to become India's next International Master. The seven-day ten-player round-robin tournament was organized by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Le Palace in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 14th to 20th August 2024. Top two score 7/9, Kunal scores his final IM-norm

International Master David Gochelashvili (RUS) won 24th TN IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament with 7 points from 9 rounds. Kunal M of TN also scored 7 points but had to settle down for second place due to his loss to David in their second round individual encounter. Kunal obtained his IM-Norm and has to gain few Elo rating in order to complete his IM title. GM Manik Mikulas (SVK), finished as second runner-up with 5.5 points. The tournament was inaugurated by GM Deepan Chakkravarthy, former Asian Junior Chess Champion.
