Ajay Karthikeyan wins Muralimohan Memorial 4th Capa Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2024

IM Ajay Karthikeyan, GM Deepan Chakkravarthy J and IM Nitin S scored 8/9 each at Muralimohan Memoial 4th Capa Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2024. Ajay won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Deepan and Nitin were placed second and third respectively. Both Ajay and Deepn remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each respectively. The one-day rapid rating tournament was organized by Capa Chess Academy at Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 14th July 2024. IM Ajay Karthikeyan scored an unbeaten 8/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and increased his Elo rating by 18.2 points

A total of 539 players including two GMs, seven IMs and a WIM took part from nine countries across the world including India in this one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Capa Chess Academy at Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 14th July 2024. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
