Imran triumphs at 29th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit 2024

FM Md. Imran scored 6.5/9 to win 29th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. GM Evgeniy Podolchenko and IM Semetei Tologon Tegin scored 6/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. The seven-day ten-player round-robin tournament was organized by Coimbatore District Chess Association at Hotel Alankar Grande in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 23rd to 29th September 2024. Imran's fourth tournament triumph of the year

Md. Imran of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, triumphed at 29th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament, finishing with an impressive score of 6.5 out of 9. GM Evgeniy Podolchenko (BLR) and IM Semetei Tologon Tegin (KGZ) closely followed, each scoring 6 points. However, a superior tie-break score allowed Podolchenko to secure second place, while IM Tologon took third. The tournament, held from September 23rd to 29th, 2024, at Hotel Alankar Grande, was organized by the Coimbatore District Chess Association.

The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Vijayaragavan, the Vice President, in the presence of Mr. M Ephrame, Vice President, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and Mr. Dhanasekar, Secretary, Coimbatore District Chess Association. Dr.M Manickam, Chairman  Sakthi Groups & President TNSCA distributed the prizes to the winners.

M Ephrame is a Category A level International Arbiter, FIDE Instructor and Vice President of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association. He was also the Tournament Coordinator for the 17th, 25th and 29th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024.
