Utsab Chatterjee dominates 1st CPPF Rapid Rating Open 2024
IM Utsab Chatterjee scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st CPPF Rapid Rating Open 2024. Utsab finished a full point ahead of the competition. Soham Roy, IM Subhayan Kundu, Rounak Guha Roy and Ankit Das scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second to fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹225000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The two-day rapid rating open tournament was organized by Jalpaiguri Chess Players' Parents Forum at SAI Complex in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal on 28th and 29th October 2024. Utsab's sixth triumph of the year
Top seed, IM Utsab Chatterjee made a blazing start by winning eight games in-a-row. He was a full point ahead going into the final round. A draw was enough for him to become a clear champion and that's what he did against Soham Roy who secured second place. IM Subhayan Kundu defeated IM Suvrajit Saha to finish third. 11-year-old Ankit Das scored an impressive 7.5/9 to finish fifth. He is the youngest top ten finisher of the event.




A total of 240 players including three IMs took part from various parts of the country, two from Bhutan and one from Nepal in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Jalpaiguri Chess Players' Forum at SAI Complex, Biswabangla Krirangan in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal on 28th and 29th October 2024. The time control of the event was 25 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
