Checkmate Chess Academy invites you to 1st Checkmate Rating Open 2025 offering prize fund worth ₹1100000
Checkmate Chess Academy invites all chess players around the world in the inaugural edition of Checkmate Rating Open 2025. It is scheduled to take place from 9th to 13th July 2025. The tournament offers the highest ever total prize fund for a non-GM Classical Rating Open tournament in West Bengal. The total prize fund is ₹1100000. The top three prizes are ₹100000, ₹70000 and ₹50000 along with a trophy and medal each. So far 136 players including two IMs have registered. Entry is FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs. Last date of registration is 5th July. So hurry up and register now if you have not yet as only a limited number of entries will be accepted. Highest total prize fund for a non-GM Rating tournament in West Bengal
Thee tournament will have the highest prize fund for a non-GM Classical Rating Open tournament in Kolkata, West Bengal. It means GM tournaments where rating restriction is there has had higher total prize fund tournament in Kolkata. However, a completely open rating tournament in Kolkata and West Bengal, for the first time will have a prize fund of ₹1100000.

Schedule
There will be a total of nine rounds. There are double rounds every day from 9th to 12th July. Only last day, Sunday 13th July will have one round.

Prizes
The total prize fund is ₹1100000. First prize is ₹10000, second prize is ₹70000 and third prize is ₹50000 along with a trophy and medal each. There are 25 main prizes. There are 15 prizes each in Below 1600 and Rating 1600-1800. There are three prizes in Veteran (Above 55) and Women (Above 15) category. There are also age group prizes in Under-7, 9, 11 and 13 - Top ten in Boys and in Girls. The total number of prizes are - 161.



Rules and Regulations
The tournament will have eleven rounds with a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1. Check out the image below for more details and contact information.

Entry fees
Entry is free for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. For all other players, the entry fee is now ₹5500. Limited entries will be accepted. Check the image below to find out the details. Last date for submission of entry is 5th July 2025.
