Bristy Mukherjee dominates West Bengal State Women's Rating 2024

The reigning Purba Bardhaman district champion, WFM Bristy Mukherjee scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 to win Lake Youth Club presents West Bengal State Women's Rating 2024. She finished a half point ahead of the field. Rajanya Datta (North 24 Parganas) scored 7/8 to secure second place. She also remained undefeated. Dakhsha Rudra (North 24 Parganas) finished third scoring 6.5/8. Her sole loss was against the eventual runner-up, Rajanya. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹90000. The top three prizes were ₹20000 + trophy, ₹15000 and ₹10000 each respectively. The four-day eight-round rating tournament was organized by Kolkata District Chess Association from 1st to 4th August at Sahid Smriti Sangha in Kolkata, West Bengal. This was the first time since 2019, a separate State Women's Rating Championship took place in West Bengal. The last two editions in 2022 and 2023 had a combined event for Open and Women.

A total of 97 players took part from various districts of West Bengal. The eight-round Swiss league Rating tournament took place from 1st to 4th August 2024 at Sahid Smriti Sangha in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was organized by Kolkata District Chess Association. The time control was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
