They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks. Pranesh defeated compatriot Iniyan in the final round to become. Abhimanyu's draw against Pierre, helped Pranesh to become champion. Pierre was the only player to beat the eventual champion, Pranesh. The total prize fund of three tournaments was €40000, €30000 for Group A. The top three prizes were €8000, €5500 and €3500 along with a trophy each. Indians claim five out of top ten, brothers claim both group A and B

Four players - GM Pierre Laurent-Paoli (FRA), GM Abhimanyu Puranik, GM Pa Iniyan and GM Pranesh M were the leaders 6.5/8 each heading into the final round. Pierre drew with Abhimanyu and Iniyan lost to Pranesh. Thus, he became a clear champion. Pranesh has more than one reason to be delighted about winning the biggest chess tournament in France, in a long time. The second reason is, his own elder brother, Dinesh Rajan M won the Group B (<2200). We will mention it in detail in a separate report.
