Praggnanandhaa on his debut at Tata Steel Chess 2022 Masters
16-year-old R Praggnanandhaa won the Julius Baer Challengers Chess Tour in October last year. It earned him a regular spot at the second season of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour which starts from 19th February. Before that, Praggnanandhaa had a stellar debut at the FIDE World Cup 2021 back in July. He eliminated Gabriel Sargissian and Michal Krasenkow in Round 2 and 3 respectively, before getting eliminated by Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in Round 4. MVL went on to become World Blitz champion later in 2021. All these performances helped Praggnanandhaa earn a spot at the Tata Steel Chess 2022 Masters, three years after he made his debut in the Challengers section. Photo: ChessBase India
