Visakh N R wins 5th Roma Citta Aperta Master 2023, C R G Krishna second

GM Visakh N R, IM C R G Krishna and GM Tigran K Harutyunyan (ARM) scored 7/9 each at 5th Roma Citta Aperta Master (>2000) 2023. Visakh became champion due to better tie-breaks, Krishna second and Tigran third. Both Visakh and Krishna remained undefeated. They drew against each other in the final round. Sai Mahati A scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win the Open A (1700-2099). She finished a full point ahead of the competition. FM Ritvik Krishnan won Trofeo Lorenzo Castellano Rapid Rating Open. He scored 7/8 and finished a half point ahead of the field. The total prize fund of the festival was €7350. The top three prizes in Master were €1000, €800 and €600 along with a trophy each, Open A - €700, €500 and €400. For Rapid - €100 was the first prize. GM Visakh N R drew against IM C R G Krishna in the final round to win the Master section, Krishna secured second place. IM Bala Chandra Prasad Dhulipalla and IM Sidhant Mohapatra scored 6.5/9 each to be placed fifth and seventh according to tie-breaks. WGM Priyanka Nutakki is the top female finisher. She scored 6/9 to finish 14th.

The seven-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Massimo Carconi at Hotel Eurostars Roma Aeterna in Rome, Italy from 6th to 10th December 2023. The time control of the event was 40 moves in 90 minutes  + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
