New Delhi GP Round 3: Bibisara wins two in-a-row

IM Bibisara Assaubayeva has won her second consecutive game at New Delhi GP 2023. The reigning two-time World Blitz Women champion defeated GM Nino Batsiashvili in Round 3. The Georgian gave up an exchange in the endgame to get rid of her opponent's outside passed pawn. In the next move, she weakened her own king instead of trying to create some pressure on her opponent's relatively vulnerable king. The teenager is the only player to have scored wins so far at this event. Humpy and Harika drew with Kateryna Lagno and Nana Dzagnidze respectively. Three draws

The third round had the same results as the previous round, three draws and a decisive result. The win was once again scored by IM Bibisara Assaubayeva (KAZ).

Bibisara - Nino

Position after 30.f4

The superficial reason Black shouldn't take the a4-pawn is Nc5 attacks both rooks, and she loses an exchange. The actual reason should be that Black should not exchange pieces and try to capitalize on White's king precariously at g4. 30...g6 seems quite fine for Black as it threatens f5+. The game continued 30...Rxa4 31.Nc5 f6 32.Re7 and Black's position fell apart in a hurry.
