Chettinadu Public School - A chess ambient institution in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu

The ongoing 46th edition of National Women's Championship 2019 is being hosted and sponsored by the Chettinad Public School of Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. While we are bringing you round by round in depth coverage of this highly important National level event, it would be remiss if we didn't mention about the very institution which has been key in its organization. In this article we exclusively take you to the venue of National Women's 2019, the Chettinadu Public School (CPS) - a CBSE affiliated senior secondary school that has made a name these days in the Indian chess scene. An Educational Institute par excellence!

Established in 2010, the Chettinadu Public School was formed out of a noble initiative of the Chettinadu Educational Trust. The School's vision and mission is to impart holistic education to each and every of its students. Chess has always been central to the many activities of the school. Indeed, it is not without reason that the world under-7 schools champion of 2018 hails from here.

Lakshana Subramanian is the chess prodigy and pride of CPS. Right now she is fighting it out against the country's best in the National Women's event taking place in her own school and has so far scored 3.0 points in nine rounds.
