World Youth U16 Olympiad 2022 R2: Mexico loses to India 0.5-3.5

Team India won against Mexico convincingly in the second round of World Youth Under-16 Olympiad 2022. GM Pranav Venkatesh, IM Pranesh M and Tanisha S Boramanikar won their respective games. FM Harshad S drew his first game at the event against Santiago Zacarias Rodriguez who did not make any mistakes. The top seed of the tournament Turkiye-Anatolia were held to a draw by Iran. India will face Kazakhstan in the third round. There are two changes - Mrittika Mallick and Rohit S will be replacing Tanisha and Harshad respectively. Top two seeds already show jitters

The top board of Turkiye-Anatolia, FM Adar Tarhan went down against Iranian IM Daneshvar Bardiya. However, their third board evened out the loss. Second and fourth board ending in a draw means Turkiye-Anatolia drew with Iran 2-2. Uzbekistan-1 defeated Azerbaijan-2 by a minimum margin of 2.5-1.5.

Mexico - India: 0.5-3.5

GM Pranav Venkatesh (2530), IM Pranesh M (2442) and Tanisha S Boramanikar (1808) won their respective games against Miguel Angel Montes Orozco (2051), CM Atlas Adomaitis Galaviz Medina (2131) and Paula Sofia Hernandez Diaz (1759). FM Harshad S (2228) drew with Santiago Zacarias Rodriguez (2123).

Position after 36...Nc4

36...Nc4 is a very nice move. The b4-knight actually cannot be moved as 37.Nd3 runs into Ne3+ and 37.Nc2 is met with e5 having the same idea of Ne3. 37.a3 means Qxa3, 37.bxc4 has Qxb4 as a fitting reply. White resigned after 37...e5.
