An update on the WACA celebrations 2024

23rd of May 2024 the WACA celebrations is going to be held at the Good Shepherd auditorium. This article is an update on a few of the things that everyone has been asking about. It has information on what should you do if you have registered but not received confirmation and also who are the players selected for the tandem simul.

The WestBridge Anand Chess Academy (WACA) is organizing its celebratory meetup today (23rd of May 2024). A few days ago we published an article and within a few hours many people registered to be present at the event. The capacity of the venue (Good Shepherd auditorium) is 800 people. The number of registrations received were more than 1600! Only the confirmed ones have received the QR code. The rest are in the waiting list. If you have registered and have not received the QR code, it means you are in the wait list. In this particular case, you will not be allowed to enter the venue. However, if people who registered and got the confirmation do not turn up, you might have a chance.

Tandem Simul

The tandem simul pits the talented youngsters of Bangalore against five grandmasters - Vishy Anand, Gukesh, Pragg, Vaishali and Sandipan Chanda. We received a lot of submissions to play and the selection was made based on the rating, age, achievements and a frw other factors. Of course, we would have loved to give more talents a chance, but for this time we had to close it at 15 players. We hope such a simul will take again next year and more talents will get to participate.

The players will have 15 minutes while Team WACA will have 30 minutes. There is no increment.

A wonderful segment that we will be having in the show will be Suhani Shah, one of the most famous mentalists in the world, doing some amazing tricks with WACA team at the event.
