Are you ready for The Big Chess Diwali Camp from 21st-27th October?
We are back with another ChessBase India Camp! The Big Chess Diwali Camp will be held from 21st October to 27th October at the Phoenix Marketcity Mall, Mumbai. After seeing huge success from more than 600 participants for all our previous camps, how could we not organize another one? This time, there will be 45 sheets, 4 levels, 4 trainers, some volunteers, and hundreds of participants, hopefully. There is no registration needed for the camp and it is totally free. We promise you that this will be the most exciting camp yet!
A Camp for Every Chess Fan
From the very first ChessBase India Camp held in 2023, our goal has been to make chess learning fun and useful for all age groups. This camp does not focus on a specific rating group, instead, it focuses on everyone! Whether you are new to chess, looking to improve your skills, or already a seasoned player, this camp is designed for everyone. All the chess fans can gather at the camp, share their knowledge, and learn together.
Just like last year, this year our plan was to organize two ChessBase India Chess Camps. The Big Chess Summer Camp was held from 13th May to 19th May at the Phoenix Marketcity Mall. This seven-day camp witnessed over 550 participants. This is the second time that we have organized the winter camp. Have a look at this video from last year’s Winter Camp to get the feel:

What’s new?
This time we have named the camp ‘The Big Chess Diwali Camp’ because we have modified it a bit to make sure that your chess knowledge will truly ‘Light up’. In previous camps, we had three levels, but this year, we have added an additional level – our Diwali Dhamaka! Each level is inspired by a Diwali patakha to make your learning fun.
Level 1: Light your Diya - This level will light up your mind by understanding how the pieces move and grasp the basics of chess.
Level 2: Fountain – A level like a colorful fountain in which you will explore various principles of chess that will add flair to your game.
Level 3: Sutli Bomb –This level is packed with tactical exercises and checkmating patterns that will make your moves explode with brilliance on the board.
Level 4: Rocket – This last level will take your game to new heights with advanced lessons that will take you miles ahead in chess.
What makes this camp unique?
Our camp has its own way of teaching. Instead of having a PPT presentation or giving lectures about chess topics, this camp focuses on ‘Self-paced learning’. We provide you with the sheets, and you learn at your own pace! Have you heard about Rabindranath Tagore’s teaching philosophy?
1. Teaching should be in an open space
That’s what our chess club at the Phoenix Marketcity Mall offers. The vibrant, open atmosphere here creates the perfect learning environment. Instead of learning chess in a classroom in front of a screen, why not just explore chess with a board in front of you? Why not experience the actual ‘Touch-to-play’?
2. Teaching should focus on creativity
Our camp will cater to the creativity of all age groups. For kids, we will use our Chesspa activity books to make learning fun for them. We will also provide coloring and activity sheets to allow kids to solve puzzles using colors and showcase their creativity. Whether your goal is to master the middlegame, sharpen your endgame, improve your attacking, or strengthen your defense - we have all the sheets!
3. Freedom to explore
Want to solve less sheets and play more games? You are welcome. Want to solve more sheets and play fewer games? You are welcome. Want to clear your doubts from our coaches? You are welcome. Want to learn in a group? You are welcome. Want to learn alone? You are welcome. You decide how you want to learn!
4. No time restrictions on learning
Our camp encourages learning without rigid time constraints. Whether you want to spend just 15 minutes or dive in for hours, you are free to set your own pace. Drop by, explore a puzzle or play a game whenever it suits you. There is no rush! You can come and leave at any time. You can come on any day, you can come on every day. Just come!
Know the drill
Come to the Phoenix Marketcity Mall, visit Atrium 5, spot the ChessBase India Club, register yourself, collect the sheet and you are set! Our volunteers and coaches will guide you on where to start. Once you have solved your sheet, they will check it and correct your problems (If any!). Then you can go ahead with the next sheet.
Meet our coaches
The head coaches for the camp will be Priyanka Ved, Nithin Chandan, Shashank Mokashi, and Himank Ghosh. They are very experienced trainers who have meticulously crafted the training sheets. Even with hundreds of participants, they make it a priority to connect with each of you personally and address your doubts. You would be surprised to see them constantly in action, solving the doubts of a huge number of people. Make sure you solve the sheets seriously and ask them your doubts – this will be rewarding for both you and them!
Bonus after the camp
At the end of the camp, you will be awarded a digital certificate from ChessBase India, indicating that you have successfully completed the camp.
Want to be a Volunteer?
Organizing such camps is challenging without the support of volunteers. All of our previous camps have been successful thanks to our dedicated volunteers! They assist with various tasks like registration, helping coaches, solving doubts, and much more. If you would like to contribute as a volunteer and help make this camp a successful event, please fill out this Google form.
