Rajdeep Sarkar wins Kashmir Open Rating 2022
Top two seeds of the tournament, IM Rajdeep Sarkar (WB) and GM Himanshu Sharma (HAR) scored an unbeaten 8.5/9. The game between them also ended in a draw. Rajdeep won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Himanshu was adjudged second. Four players scored 7/9. Out of them, Chandrasekhar M K (DASCB) was placed third according to tie-breaks.The total prize fund of the event was ₹200000. Top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with Kashmiri handcrafted trophies each. Rajdeep and Himanshu finish 1.5 points ahead of the field
IM Rajdeep Sarkar and GM Himanshu Sharma finished a massive 1.5 points ahead of the competition. These days Rajdeep does not get a lot of time to play tournaments as he is studying to become a doctor. He shared, "Thank you! It was great playing a classical tournament after 2-3 years. Came for a vacation in Kashmir and winning a tourney was a sweet addition to it. Great hospitality from the organisers and looking forward for more tournaments in such scenic destinations!"

A total of 100 players including a GM and an IM took part in this six-day nine-round Swiss League Open Rating tournament. The tournament was organized by The Kashmir Chess Club at Polo View, Srinagar from 2nd to 7th July 2022. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
