Everything is back in stock - New Quality Chess Books have arrived!
The Quality Chess books have been received by great enthusiasm by chess lovers all over India. When the books arrived in the ChessBase India office towards the end of March, we quickly ran out of stock of the most popular titles within a few days. We did not anticipate this, so the next order took some time to come to India, but now it's here! Over 3,000 high "quality" chess books have arrived in Mumbai. Right from Shankland's small steps to giant improvement to Tikannen's Woodpecker Method to Jan Markos' under the surface we have all the books! And this time we also have hardbacks. Check out the latest books in this article and get them to your address in India without any shipping cost!
87 Quality Chess titles for you to enjoy and learn from!
The aim of Quality Chess India was to bring high quality chess books to our country. We started off with 55 handpicked Quality Chess titles and the response that we received was fantastic. Within a few months most of the titles were out of stock. Of course, we were not prepared for the same and the next order that arrived from the Quality Chess warehouse in Europe took quite some time! But finally the books are here! Over 3,000 of them! Not only have we refilled the stock of old books, but we have some new ones that would be of great interest to players of all levels.
There are some books that we are very excited about:
Hans Tikkanen was struggling in the rating zone of 2400-2450 for quite some time. He decided to improve his chess with the woodpecker method! What exactly is the woodpecker method? Well, you solve a lot of tactics right from really easy ones to very tough ones and then you repeat and then you repeat once again. You do it until the point that these patterns are imprinted in your mind in such a way that you can find such ideas easily in your game. With the Woodpecker method, Hans Tikkanen not only managed to become a GM, but he went on to break the 2600 barrier!
Sam Shankland worked pretty hard on this book and it definitely seems that it helped him become a stronger chess player. His live rating is currently 2726. Here's an example where Sam was able to put into practice what he wrote in the book:
Rauf Mamedov vs Sam Shankland, Batumi Olympiad 2018
It was Black's move here and Sam took the bishop on b3. Rauf recaptured on b3 with his pawn which looks like a pretty normal move. But Sam explains, "This is a mistake because when you have doubled pawns the pawn that is in front should be defended with another pawn, or else it becomes a weakness. Here the pawn on b3 cannot move forward because of the pawn on a5 and hence it becomes a weakness in the long run." All of this looks extremely logical once you read about it. But if you do not know this then taking on b3 is not an easy decision. The book is filled with such tips that will help you to make complex decisions easily.
I read this book on my way from Mumbai to Krakow with the blind team and I must say that the insights provided by Jan Markos are excellent. He puts into words many of the subjects which have been neglected by chess literature.
