Nikita Khoroshev wins Issykkul Open 2023, Aradhya Garg second

IM Nikita Khoroshev (UZB), FM Aradhya Garg and GM Masoud Mosadeghpour (IRI) scored 7/10 each at Isyykkul Open A 2023. Nikita became champion due to better tie-break score, Aradhya secured second place and Masoud third. Aradhya also earned his fifth IM-norm in the process. His live rating is 2395.4 now. He is 4.6 Elo rating points away from becoming India's next IM. The reigning two-time National Under-17 Open champion, CM Mayank Chakraborty scored 6/10 to be placed ninth. He also earned an IM-norm. This is his second IM-norm in consecutive months. He is now final IM-norm and few Elo rating points The total prize fund of the tournament was 1589000 soms (US$ 18000). IM-norms: Aradhya's fifth and Mayank's second

IM-elect FM Aradhya Garg earned his fifth IM-norm. Last month, he secured his fourth IM-norm at Baku Open 2023. These are all extra norms as he had completed securing all three of his norms last year. Speaking of securing IM-norms in consecutive months, CM Mayank Chakraborty earned his second IM-norm at this event. He is now final IM-norm and few Elo rating points away from becoming India's next International Master.

A total of 41 players including 7 GMs, 10 IMs, 2 WIMs took part from ten countries across the world in Open A (≥2000). Open B (1650-1999) witnessed 30 players and Open C (1649) had 118 players in this nine-day ten-round Swiss League Rating Open tournament. The events were organized by Kyrgyz Chess Union at Solemar, Solemar Arena in Korumdu village, Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan from 12th to 20th July 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
