ChessBase India YouTube Membership update for May 2021

At ChessBase India, we are extremely proud of the chess community that we have built up. The YouTube membership money that we receive is used for the betterment of Indian chess and for the upliftment of the Indian chess players. We have the YouTube memberships of five different tiers, with the only perk that all the money that anyone would contribute will go towards the betterment of our country's chess. We collected Rs.34,588 in April 2021 and Rs.54,931 in May 2021. The April fund will be used for the training of the talented young girl Savitha Shri with GM Shyam Sundar and the May fund will be utilized to support differently abled Karthik Venkata Krishna who will work with N. Ramaraju.

The final amount comes to Rs.54,931 after the 30% YouTube deductions. We have 55 pillars, 4 promoters, 28 supporters, 38 boosters and 182 backers - the different tiers of memberships. This entire amount will be used to fund the training of Karthik Krishna Venkata, the winner of the Super Heroes Cup 2021. Karthik suffers from Cerebral Palsy. However, chess is everything in his life. The 34-year-old boy is extremely talented and also has 1 IM norm under his belt.

Apart from the R.54,931 that we have collected via YouTube memberships, we also received Rs.20,000 from two kind followers of ChessBase India - Shikhar Saxena and Siddharth Bulia. Their donation will also be used for the training of Karthik. Shikhar mentions, ""We got to know of disabled chess only about an year back through Samay & Sagar's streams. In a world which is so hard for disabled people, we were amazed by the difference that Chess has made to their lives, particularly in helping them create an identity for themselves. We got so excited watching these players play under time pressure in the final Armageddon, that in the middle of the stream - decided to make this small contribution for the winner. These players are truly real-life superheroes and we will eagerly wait for the next Super Heroes tournament." A big thanks to both these gentlemen for supporting Indian chess.

An update about the April Fund

The details of the April Fund have been mentioned in our previous article on the memberships along with the names of all the donors. We had received Rs.34,588. During the Super Heroes Cup in December 2020, we had received Rs.15,000 from a donor who doesn't wish to reveal his identity. Adding this Rs.15,000 to the April Fund of YouTube memberships, we have a total sum of Rs.49.588. All of this amount will be utilized to support and upcoming young talent - WIM Savitha Shri.

WIM Savitha Shri with a rating of 2281 is born in 2007. She is just 14 years old and is one of the biggest talents in the country. Her father, Baskar, who tries extremely hard to keep his daughter's chess career going was in need of funds. We have decided to sponsor her training with a GM to the tune of Rs.50,000.
