C R G Krishna wins 2nd Jana Przewoźnika Memorial Rating Open 2025

IM C R G Krishna and FM Taron Shagbazyan (UKR) scored 7.5/9 each at 2nd Jana Przewoźnika Rating Open A 2025. Krishna won the tournament due to better tie-breaks and Taron secured second place. Their final round battle against each other ended in a draw. GM Lukasz Jarmula (POL) scored 7/9, edged past IM Marcin Sieciechowicz (POL) to finish third. Taron remained undefeated and defeated the eventual second runner-up, Jarmula. The top three prizes were PLN 5000 + cup, 3800 and 2800 each. IM Sai Agni Jeevitesh J scored 6.5/9 to finish fifth. IM C R G Krishna and FM Taron Shagbazyan (UKR) were coleaders 7/8, heading into the final round. Krishna drew with Taron to win the tournament, Taron secured second place. CM Bartosz Przybylski (POL) lost to GM Lukasz Jarmula (POL) and the latter finished third. The total participation in the tournament was - 115, 80 in Group A and 35 in Group B.

A total of 80 players including a GM and seven IMs took part from five countries across the world. The seven-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Stilon Chess Club, Town Hall - Arkadiusz Wodniczak and Danuta Przewoźnik at Z Herbert Provincial and Municipal Public Library in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland from 1st to 7th May 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
