Arav Baid perfect at Birmingham Open 2024

Arav Baid scored a perfect 5/5 to win Birmingham Open 2024. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. After a Bye in the first round, Arav won the next four games including a win over the top seed and eventual second runner-up, CM Jan Murawski (ENG). John M Potter scored sole 4/5 to secure second place. He also remained undefeated. The total prize fund was £1500. The top three prizes in each of the four sections were £180, £120 and £60 respectively. The two-day five-round rating open tournament was organized by Warwickshire Chess Association at King Edward VI Five Ways School in Birmingham, England on 17th and 18th November 2024. Birmingham Open had four sections - Open, Major, Inter and Minor. The total participation was - 132 (31, 28, 32 and 41 in each of the previously mentioned categories).

A total of 31 players took part from five countries across the world in this two-day five round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Warwickshire Chess Association at King Edward VI Five Ways School in Birmingham, England on 16th to 17th November 2024. The time control of the event was 80 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
