37th Magistral Ciudad de Leon: Arjun Erigaisi and Vishy Anand set to face Jaime Latasa and Veselin Topalov
Arjun Erigaisi and Vishy Anand both will be seen in action at 37th Torneo Magistral de Ajedrez Ciudad de Leon. It will be knockout tournament played in Rapid time control in a best of four games. In the first Semifinal, it will be the clash of two former world champions - Veselin Topalov (BUL) and Anand. The defending champion, Jaime Santos Latasa (ESP) will face Arjun Erigaisi as determined in the draw of lots in presence of the Chief Arbiter - IA Javier Perez Llera (ESP). The first Semifinal starts today at 4:30 p.m. local time, 8 p.m. IST. The second Semifinal will take place tomorrow Saturday at the same time. Finals will be held on Sunday. It is a great week for Indian chess. The top four Indians will be seen in action in two different tournaments having different formats too. D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa have already started their campaign at Grand Chess Tour Superbet Classic 2024. Vishy Anand and Arjun Erigaisi will get into the action during the course of Friday and Saturday respectively. The pairings have made a great chance for a showdown between Arjun and Anand on Sunday. It will certainly be the most desired final for all the chess fans.

Format
Each of the Playoffs will consist of four games of 20 minutes each + 10 seconds increment. If the score is tied after four games, the winner will be decided in games played with 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
