1st Indian Chess Club tournament in Bahrain
The 1st Indian Club Rapid Chess Tournament 2022 was held at the Indian Club, Manama Kingdom of Bahrain on 14th of October 2022. There were a total of 140 participants from 11 countries. The event had a total prize fund of $1500. Mero Aghiad from Syria won the event scoring 6.5/7. Vismay Sachar was the best-performing Indian player - he scored 5.5/7 and finished in 11th position, also getting the 1st prize in the Under-14 age category. 1st event by Indian Club Bahrain
This was one of the biggest ever Chess Championship in Bahrain, conducted by Indian Club Bahrain in association with Arjun's Chess Academy. There were a total of 140 participants from 11 countries. The event saw a prize fund of $1500, with a first prize of USD 400. Mero Aghiad from Syria scored 6.5/7 to win the tournament. Novo Lee Anthony and Elsehenawy Ibrahim both scored 6/7, but Anthony took the 2nd place due to better tiebreaks.
A total of 88 Indian players took part in the tournament out of 140. While no Indian player was in the top 10, lots of them won category prizes. Following are the prizes which the Indian players won:
Under-8 Category: Aaryan Sudheer Menon (2nd)

Under-10 Category: Dhruvi Shrikant Panigrahi (1st)
Joel Dilip (3rd)
Under-12 Category: 1st - Rishi Kankhara
2nd - Rudra Kankhara

Under - 14 Category: 1st - Vismay Sachar
2nd - Vyom Gupta
Women's Category: 1st - Dhansika N.
2nd - Tanya Singh
3rd - Shayna Nagvekar
Bahraini Category: 1st - Alzayer Abdulla
2nd - Hasan Zaki
3rd - Faqihi Abdulaziz
All the prizes were distributed by Shaikh Abdulrahman Bin Rashid Al Khalifa. The Indian Club Bahrain & Arjun's Chess Academy Bahrain organized the whole 7-round rapid event at The Indian Club, Zubara Avenue, Area 308, Manama, Bahrain. The time control of the event was 10 minutes+5 second increment from move 1.
