Gukesh set to make his debut at 13th London Chess Classic 2023
D Gukesh will make his debut at the 13th edition of London Chess Classic. He will battle against nine top players of the world in a round-robin Classical event. Nikita Vitiugov (ENG), M Amin Tabatabaei (IRI), Hans Niemann (USA), Michael Adams (ENG), Andrei Volokitin (UKR), Mateusz Bartel (POL), Jules Moussard (FRA), Luke McShane (ENG) and IM Shreyas Royal (ENG). The top four prizes are £15000, £10000, £7500 and £6000. The event takes place in Central London from 1st to 10th December 2023. This event could very well be Gukesh's final path to qualify to the FIDE Candidates 2024. The important part is he needs to do well, Candidates will always be there. London Chess Classic starts today
Chess in Schools and Communities is proud to announce that the London Chess Classic will return to the capital this December for its 13th edition. The London Chess Classic will be a ten-player all-play-all with nine Super Grandmasters, including the rising star of Indian chess, Dommaraju Gukesh, and the American Hans Niemann, whose sensational victory over the then world champion Magnus Carlsen sent the chess world into turmoil. The event takes place in central London from Friday 1st December to Sunday 10th December. The tournament is not open to the public, but all the action will be broadcast live online at londonchessclassic.com.

India no.5, GM D Gukesh is the top seed of the event, followed by GM Nikita Vitiugov, the new England no.1. Iran no.2 - GM M Amin Tabatabaei, Tournament of Peace 2023 winner - GM Hans Niemann (USA), the recently crowned World Senior 50+ champion - GM Michael Adams (ENG), Ukraine no.3 - GM Andrei Volokitin, Poland no.3 - GM Mateusz Bartel, France no.6 - GM Jules Moussard, England no.4 - GM Luke McShane and England prodigy - IM Shreyas Royal.
