ChessBase India is set to organize the 2nd Chess Festival in Hyderabad on the 10th August
On the 20th of July 2024, ChessBase India organized a Chess Festival for all chess enthusiasts. More than 100 chess players gathered at the Sarath City Capital Mall, Hyderabad to celebrate International Chess Day. The event was a huge success which contributed 453 games for the FIDE World Record! After seeing this tremendous response from the players, ChessBase India is set to organize a Blitz Tournament and a puzzle-solving contest for the 2nd Chess Festival on 10th August 2024. This event will be organized in the loving memory of Bishan Singh Ji at the Shri Ram Academy International School. The entry fee will be Rs.300 for the tournament and Rs. 100 for the puzzle-solving contest, while it will be free for GM/ WGM/ IM/ WIM. 2nd Edition of ChessBase India Chess Festival at Hyderabad!
After the 1st Chess Festival organized on 20th July, ChessBase India is organizing its second edition in Hyderabad on 10th August. The event will be held at the Shri Ram Academy International School! You can register for the event right now.
This event is organized in loving memory of Bishan Singh ji who was a prominent Chess Player, Coach, National Arbiter, APCA-Office Bearer, and Organizer. His contribution to making chess popular in the state of Andhra Pradesh is still unmatched. His family has been conducting chess tournaments in his memory since 2017. They have contributed Rs. 20,000 for the event as they truly believe that top chess achievers from the state should be recognized and honored.
The festival will include a Blitz tournament and a puzzle-solving contest on the same day! The exact location of the tournament playing hall is - The Shri Ram Academy International School in Gachibowli, Hydrabad, beside Srija Hospital, Padmashree Gardens, Gowlidoddy, Hyderabad, Telangana 500032.
Tournament Schedule:
The event will start with the problem-solving contest at 10 AM. However, the reporting time for the contest is 9:45 AM sharp. The contest will end at 10:30 AM which is the reporting time for the Blitz tournament. The tournament will come to an end at 3:30 PM after which the prize distribution will start immediately.
The Blitz tournament:
The first round of the tournament will start at 10:45 AM, and the players should report to the playing hall by 10:30 AM. This will be a Swiss tournament with 9 rounds of Blitz Chess. The time control for the tournament will be 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment starting from move one. FIDE laws of chess will be applied for tiebreaks.
Puzzle Solving Contest:
The duration of the puzzle-solving contest is 30 minutes. Every participant will have to solve five questions during this period and no extra time will be given even if the participant arrives late.

I don't think chess players from Hyderabad or nearby would want to miss this golden opportunity to meet these legends from their hometown! How to register for the tournament?
The entry fee for the Blitz tournament is Rs. 300, and it is Rs. 100 for the puzzle-solving contest. The entries will be closed on 8th August at 11:59 PM and no on-the-spot entries will be given. The first-round pairings for the Blitz tournament will be released by 11 PM on 9th August.

The joint capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana witnessed many strong international chess tournaments. 17 chess enthusiasts and players decided to launch the Hyderabad Chess Centre on 7th July 2021 which was inaugurated by K S Prasad, President of Telangana State Chess Association in the presence of Guest of honor Mr. Jaikar Daniel, President, YMCA's of Greater Hyderabad and special invitees IM P D S Girinath and former National 'A' player G V Srinivasa Rao.
